The Korea Information Engineering Professional Engineers Association (President Yuseok Kim) held an “AI Symposium” at COEX in Seoul on the 8th, alongside AI EXPO KOREA 2026, looking at the state of AI engineering and how to solve its technical challenges.
President Kim said in his welcome address that the generative AI era calls for real engineering capabilities, such as AI agents, data processing and software reliability, rather than model adoption alone, and that the association’s engineers would lead with technical insight and practical guidance for companies.
Of the 10 sessions, the morning opened with CEO Jwayeon Jeong of Cogniterm presenting “Designing practical AI agents for central government ministries: lessons from tax work improvements,” followed by OneLineAI on LLM agent-based manufacturing design, Palette on autonomous AI task execution for enterprises, and SYSTRAN on ontology-based data processing and its ArgonOS solution.
Afternoon talks spanned media, security and manufacturing, including content trust in the media value chain, software reliability from SBOM to AIBOM (Sparrow), Agent Harness for autonomous agents (Braincrew), AI in the software development life cycle (CMC Global), physical AI in manufacturing, and an AX maturity assessment framework (KISTI).
Founded in 1995, the association has some 2,100 ICT experts and supports Korea’s ICT industry through advisory and supervision services and technical dispute reviews.
